# How Long Does It Take to Get Bespoke Stone Worktops Made and Installed?

A plain-English guide from our Bridgend workshop.

01 — Introduction

Getting a new stone worktop made and installed isn't a same-week job, because the worktop is cut to fit your kitchen exactly rather than taken off a shelf. It normally happens in three stages, and knowing roughly how long each one takes makes it easier to plan a kitchen project around it.

02 — Templating

## The template visit

The first stage is templating. A technician visits your kitchen to take precise measurements, usually once the units and any appliances are in place, since the worktop is cut to match the exact shape of your kitchen rather than a standard size. The visit itself takes an hour or two, and that template then goes off for the next stage.

03 — Fabrication

## Cut, shaped and polished

Fabrication is where the worktop is actually cut, shaped and polished from the slab, and this is usually the longest part of the process, typically taking five to ten working days depending on the material and how much cutting and finishing the design needs.

04 — Installation

## The final fitting

Installation is the final stage and is usually completed in a single day, fitting the finished worktop into place, joining any sections, and sealing the edges. More complex kitchens, particularly those with an island or a lot of joins, can occasionally take two days.

05 — Total Timeline

## Allow two to three weeks

Put together, most UK stone worktop projects run to somewhere between two and three weeks from the initial template to the finished installation, though material availability or design changes partway through can extend that. If you're planning a kitchen renovation, it's worth booking your template visit as soon as your kitchen units are confirmed, so the worktop is ready by the time the rest of the kitchen is.
